Federal Emergency Management Agency Designates 21 Florida Counties as Primary Natural Disaster Areas Due to Hurricane Idalia

Contiguous counties in Florida and Georgia are also eligible for assistance

This Presidential disaster declaration allows the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) to extend much-needed emergency credit to producers recovering from natural disasters through emergency loans. Emergency loans can be used to meet various recovery needs including the replacement of essential items such as equipment or livestock, reorganization of a farming operation, or to refinance certain debts. FSA will review the loans based on the extent of losses, security available, and repayment ability.

The following disaster designations have been amended to as follows:

Impacted Area: Florida

Triggering Disaster 1: Hurricane Idalia that occurred 08/27/2023 to 09/04/2023

 Application Deadline: May 1, 2024

Primary Counties Eligible: Citrus, Dixie, Hamilton, Lafayette, Levy, Suwannee, and Taylor

Contiguous Counties Also Eligible:

Florida: Alachua, Columbia, Gilchrist, Hernando, Jefferson, Madison, Sumter

Georgia: Brooks, Echols, Lowndes

Primary Counties Eligible: Columbia, Gilchrist, Hernando, Jefferson, Madison, and Pasco
