Detailed Data Underlying the AFIDA Annual Reports

Disclaimer:  Section 773 of Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023, P.L. 117-328, directs FSA to “establish a streamlined process for … retention of disclosures made under the Agricultural Foreign Investment Disclosure Act, including an internet database that contains disaggregated data from each disclosure submitted.”  Accordingly, FSA will provide detailed data regarding foreign investment in U.S. agricultural land on an annual basis. Starting with the 2021 data, FSA intends to update the most recent year’s spreadsheet twice a year, based upon communications it receives from those who have submitted FSA-153s regarding inaccuracies in their data with respect to company names, foreign country affiliations, acreage holdings, and other information.  FSA will not be updating spreadsheets for earlier years; only the most recent year.  As a result, the spreadsheet data may not sum to the aggregate data contained in the report to Congress (starting with the 2021 data).  The reasons for inaccuracies may include a number of causes, including human errors such as typographical errors when data from hard copy paper filings is manually entered into the AFIDA database.
