DES MOINES, Iowa, May 11, 2022 – In an effort to better serve the producers in western Iowa, the East Pottawattamie County Service Center, located in Oakland, IA will be modifying their office hours later this summer. Since 2019, the Oakland Service Center, due to reduced staffing, had only been open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8:00 – 4:30 p.m. Fully staffed, the office will return to office hours of Monday – Friday, 8:00 – 4:30 p.m. at a date yet to be determined later this summer.

“This is a great opportunity to better serve the producers in southwest Iowa. Because of the high level of conservation on farms in this region, it is especially important to have a fully staffed FSA office to partner with NRCS and SWCD staff in the East Pottawattamie Service Center and with Gold Hills RC&D to advance high value conservation including new efforts for Climate Smart Agriculture,” said Matt Russell, State Executive Director of the Iowa Farm Service Agency.  “The Oakland Office returning to fully staffed and normal business hours, is consistent with the commitment of investing in our front-line service providers by the Biden-Harris Administration. Our county office staff provide efficient and effective service for Iowa Farmers. We’re excited to open up this office full time again when we get fully staffed later this summer.”

The Iowa Farm Service Agency has service centers in 97 counties across the state. To find your local USDA service center visit farmers.gov/service-locator.
