Nina Berryman Hired as Philadelphia County Executive Director
Nina Berryman joined the Farm Service Agency after 15 years of farming in Philadelphia with Weavers Way Co-op. In this role she started and managed a vegetable CSA, an orchard, and a farm market, all of which focus on the synergy between food production, community involvement and education. After learning that Philadelphia was chosen as one of the pilot Urban Service Centers for the USDA, she was motivated to be a part of the new office and bring the services of the USDA to her fellow urban farmers. She is also focusing on building relationships with producers to understand how to better meet their needs. She grew up in rural Vermont and was inspired to mesh her environmental and community development interests after studying in Montreal, Canada.
