USDA Designates Several Nebraska Counties as Disasters Due to Drought

(LINCOLN, Nebraska - June 22, 2022) This stakeholder notification represents four separate Secretarial natural disaster designations. Such designations allow the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) to extend much-needed emergency credit to producers recovering from natural disasters through emergency loans.

USDA Announces Assistance for On-Farm Food Safety Expenses for Specialty Crop Growers 

JUNE 23, 2022— Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) plans to provide up to $200 million in assistance for specialty crop producers who incur eligible on-farm food safety program expenses to obtain or renew a food safety certification in calendar years 2022 or 2023.

USDA Issues First Coronavirus Food Assistance Program Payments

Washington, D.C., June 5, 2020 – U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue today announced the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) has already approved more than $545 million in payments to producers who have applied for the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program. FSA began taking applications May 26, and the agency has received over 86,000 applications for this important relief program.
