USDA Dairy Safety-Net Program Signup to Begin October 12 for the 2021 Coverage Period

Income-over-feed margin for April triggers second payment for 2020

WASHINGTON, June 18, 2020 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) announces that Dairy Margin Coverage (DMC) safety-net signup for 2021 coverage will begin October 12 and will run through December 11, 2020. DMC has already triggered payments for two months for producers who signed up for 2020 coverage.

USDA Opens Dairy Indemnity Payment Program Signup to Assist with Livestock Losses due to Contamination

Dairy producers in New Mexico can now apply to receive a payment for loss of dairy cows because of contamination, including from per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), through the Dairy Indemnity Payment Program (DIPP). USDA updated DIPP by authorizing indemnification of contaminated cows to address long term milk contaminations in December 2021.  

Montana FSA: USDA Offers Farm Loans for Farmers and Ranchers Facing Covid-19 Related Challenges

BOZEMAN, Montana, May 7, 2020 — The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) reminds producers that FSA offers farm ownership and farm operating loans to agricultural producers who may not find success obtaining loans from their traditional financial institutions because of COVID-19. Farmers and ranchers who cannot obtain commercial credit from a bank can apply for FSA direct or guaranteed loans.

USDA Accepting New or Modified Proposals for Its State Acres for Wildlife Enhancement Program

WASHINGTON, April 18, 2022 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is welcoming new and modified proposals from conservation partners for the State Acres for Wildlife Enhancement (SAFE) initiative, a part of the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) focused on effectively managing wildlife habitat.  USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) has expanded available practices under this initiative in response to feedback from partners.
