A Secretarial Disaster Designation has been issued for one (1) county in Iowa as primary disaster area for drought. Additionally, four (4) Iowa counties are contiguous to the disaster area. This determination will allow the Farm Service Agency’s Emergency Loans to be made available to eligible family farmers with qualifying production and physical losses in the primary and the contiguous counties to the declared disaster area.

Four Iowa Counties Impacted by Recent USDA Disaster Designation

A Secretarial Disaster Designation has been issued for nine (9) counties in Minnesota as primary disaster areas for drought. Additionally, four (4) Iowa counties are contiguous to the disaster area. WASHINGTON, Oct. 9, 2020 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced Friday, Oct. 30, 2020, as the deadline to submit applications for the Wildfire and Hurricane Indemnity Program – Plus (WHIP+) for 2018 and 2019 losses. USDA did not originally specify a deadline when the program was announced.
